Period 24 covers September 19 to September 26, 2026 — a period in which the S&P 500 rose +1.21% and the NASDAQ added +2.06%, a clear break from Period 23's split verdict of −0.08% and +0.72%. Yet for a second straight period only one of the journal's seven screens managed to close positive — this time CANSLIM Rocket, at +4.07%, its best result since Period 17's +7.34%. Schloss Dividend came closest among the rest at −0.73%, followed by Burry Value Screen at −0.97%, Lynch at −2.09%, Quality Growth at −2.10%, and Piotroski F-Score at −2.12%. Magic Formula, the lone gainer in Period 23, brought up the rear at −2.88%. The spread between best and worst screen widened to 6.95 percentage points, the widest since Period 17 and nearly three times Period 23's 2.41.
The period's clearest thread was a rotation. The semiconductor and hardware names that had weighed on CANSLIM Rocket in Period 23 — CLS, BE, APH, LRCX, MPWR — all rebounded sharply, while the tanker names that had carried Magic Formula — HAFN, TRMD, DHT, INSW — all reversed just as hard. Overlap names again did double duty, though mostly in the wrong direction: INSW's −4.96% dragged both Burry Value Screen and Magic Formula, and DRD's −4.14% hit all three of its holders at once.

Period 24 Returns: CANSLIM Rocket Rides the Chip Rebound
CANSLIM Rocket was the lone screen in the green at +4.07%, a sharp turnaround after Period 23's −0.45%. Schloss Dividend followed at −0.73% and Burry Value Screen at −0.97%. Lynch, Quality Growth, and Piotroski F-Score finished in a near three-way tie between −2.09% and −2.12%. Magic Formula brought up the rear at −2.88%, the single worst result of any screen this period and a complete reversal of its role one period earlier.

CANSLIM Rocket's +4.07% was led by INOD, which surged +21.12%, from $57.14 to $69.21, contributing approximately +1.06 percentage points at the screen's 5% weight — the largest single-position gain and the largest single contribution of the period across any screen, following its +7.39% in Period 23. MPWR added +12.29% (+0.61 points), and a cluster of Period 23 laggards reversed hard: CLS gained +9.86% (+0.49 points) after −4.02%, LRCX +9.41% (+0.47 points) after −3.39%, BE +8.69% (+0.43 points) after −3.67%, and APH +8.43% (+0.42 points) after −7.59%. MU rose +6.54% (+0.33 points), its third straight positive period, and ARQT, GLBE, ETON, ANET, and LLY each contributed smaller gains. Against these, AGX fell −6.56% (−0.33 points), the screen's largest drag, and INTR declined −4.49% (−0.22 points) after its −6.30% in Period 23. PAAS fell −3.90% (−0.20 points) in its first period in the screen, shared with Lynch, and AGI and AVGO each slipped smaller amounts. Fifteen of twenty retained positions closed positive — the widest breadth of any screen this period. No names exited or entered, holding CANSLIM Rocket at twenty names. The result lifts CANSLIM Rocket's cumulative return to +14.62% from +10.14%, consolidating second place.
A rising market lifted exactly one screen this period — and it was the one built to chase momentum, riding the same chip names that had dragged it down a week earlier.
Schloss Dividend's −0.73% was a tale of two homebuilding and RV names against everything else. LEN led the gainers, adding +7.48%, from $76.43 to $82.15, contributing approximately +0.50 percentage points at the screen's 6.67% weight, and THO rebounded +6.46% (+0.43 points) after leading the screen's decline in Period 23 at −6.99%. MTH added +2.74% (+0.18 points), and ATHM, JOYY, and VIPS each contributed smaller gains. Against these, VSNT fell −6.77% (−0.45 points), the screen's largest drag, following its −5.40% in Period 23. CHRD declined −5.69% (−0.38 points) in its first period in the screen, RDN fell −5.68% (−0.38 points), and DAC declined −4.37% (−0.29 points). TX, VTMX, GGB, and AGO each fell between roughly −1% and −3%. Six of fourteen retained positions closed positive. TME exited at the sell fee after just one period in the screen; TSN enters for Period 25, holding Schloss Dividend at fifteen names. The result trims Schloss Dividend's cumulative return to +8.04% from +8.83%, though it holds third place.
Burry Value Screen's −0.97% saw twenty-six of its forty-one positions decline. IPAR led the gainers, adding +4.82%, from $112.51 to $117.93, contributing approximately +0.12 percentage points at the screen's 2.44% weight. DDS added +4.37% (+0.11 points), SSD gained +3.11% (+0.08 points), and ADMA rose +2.96% (+0.07 points), shared with Lynch and Magic Formula. NVR, JOE, WSO, MSA, and GNTX each contributed smaller gains. Against these, INSP fell −8.18% (−0.20 points), the screen's largest drag, giving back its Period 23 gain of +5.18%. AIZ declined −6.10% (−0.15 points), CPRT fell −5.77% (−0.14 points), and INSW declined −4.96% (−0.12 points), reversing its +7.24% from Period 23 and shared with Magic Formula. DRD, NMIH, UTHR, and HL — the latter in its first period in the screen — each fell roughly −4%. Fifteen of forty-one retained positions closed positive. No names exited; ACAD and PAY enter for Period 25, growing Burry Value Screen from forty-one to forty-three names. The result trims Burry Value Screen's cumulative return to +7.20% from +8.24%, holding fourth.
Lynch's −2.09% was led by PLMR, which fell −8.83%, from $136.00 to $123.99, contributing approximately −0.59 percentage points at the screen's 6.67% weight, the screen's largest drag and a reversal of its Period 23 gain of +1.75%. CVE declined −5.18% (−0.35 points), BZ fell a further −4.66% (−0.31 points) after its −9.98% slide in Period 23, and PAAS declined −3.90% (−0.26 points), shared with CANSLIM Rocket. SKWD, RELY, FSM, KSPI, HRMY, PDD, and OGC each fell between roughly −1% and −3%. Against these, ADMA gained +2.96% (+0.20 points), shared with Burry Value Screen and Magic Formula, SKHY added +2.17% (+0.14 points), shared with Quality Growth, and ATAT edged up +0.25% (+0.02 points) — the only three of fourteen retained positions to close positive. ONON exited at the sell fee; no names enter for Period 25, shrinking Lynch from fifteen to fourteen names. The result trims Lynch's cumulative return to +1.66% from +3.83%, but Magic Formula's steeper fall hands Lynch back fifth place.
Quality Growth's −2.10% was dominated by FICO, which fell −9.12%, from $949.68 to $863.09, contributing approximately −0.70 percentage points at the screen's 7.69% weight, the screen's largest drag and its second straight decline after −3.62% in Period 23. NBIX fell −5.35% (−0.41 points), also a second straight decline, SEZL declined −4.44% (−0.34 points), and DRD fell −4.14% (−0.32 points), shared with Burry Value Screen and Magic Formula. AUPH, MNTN, and FSM each fell between roughly −2% and −3%. Against these, PAYS gained +2.67% (+0.21 points), SKHY added +2.17% (+0.17 points), and APP rose +0.87% (+0.07 points) — the only three of thirteen retained positions to close positive. SNDK, after three straight whipsaws, finally sat still at −0.78%. No names exited or entered, holding Quality Growth at thirteen names; its lineup hasn't changed since DRD's entry ahead of Period 22. The result trims Quality Growth's cumulative return to +27.14% from +29.87%, though it remains comfortably first on the scoreboard.
Piotroski's −2.12% was led by IPI, which fell −9.20%, from $37.49 to $34.04, contributing approximately −0.77 percentage points at the screen's 8.33% weight — the screen's largest drag in its first period in the screen. ARVN declined −8.44% (−0.70 points), CYD fell −6.69% (−0.56 points), and VISN declined −5.33% (−0.44 points), reversing its Period 23 gain. NOAH and SD each fell roughly −2%. Against these, WGO rebounded +2.72% (+0.23 points) after two straight periods as the screen's largest drag, MOMO added +2.25% (+0.19 points), DDI gained +1.96% (+0.16 points), and TRC rose +1.79% (+0.15 points), while RLX finished flat. Four of twelve retained positions closed positive. No names exited; API re-enters the screen for Period 25 just one period after exiting, growing Piotroski from twelve to thirteen names. The result deepens Piotroski's cumulative loss to −16.37% from −14.56%, extending its stay in last place.
Magic Formula's −2.88% — the period's worst result — saw the tanker rally that carried it in Period 23 unwind in full. HAFN led the drags, falling −11.86%, from $10.12 to $8.92, contributing approximately −0.91 percentage points at the screen's 7.69% weight — the steepest single-position decline and the largest single drag of the period on any screen. TRMD fell −10.23% (−0.79 points) after leading the screen with +8.98% in Period 23, TNK declined −6.79% (−0.52 points), DHT fell −6.40% (−0.49 points) after two strong periods, and INSW declined −4.96% (−0.38 points), shared with Burry Value Screen. DRD, BVN, CGAU, CENX, and OGC each fell between roughly −1% and −4%. Against these, ERO surged +10.83% (+0.83 points), reversing its −3.67% from Period 23, ADMA added +2.96% (+0.23 points), and FHI gained +1.26% (+0.10 points) — the only three of thirteen retained positions to close positive. No names exited or entered, holding Magic Formula at thirteen names. The result cuts Magic Formula's cumulative return to +1.05% from +4.04%, dropping it back to sixth.
Retention: Five Screens Post Perfect Scores
Period 24 was a quiet period for turnover. Five of seven screens posted perfect 100% retention — Quality Growth for another period, joined by Burry Value Screen, CANSLIM Rocket, Magic Formula, and Piotroski F-Score. Schloss Dividend and Lynch each lost a single name to post 93.3%, with Schloss edging up from 92.9% and Lynch recovering from Period 23's 88.2%. Piotroski F-Score made the period's largest move, rebounding from Period 23's lowest mark of 84.6% straight back to perfect.
Period 23 Retention
Period 24 Retention
Every screen held or improved its retention this period. Burry Value Screen recovered the perfect score it lost in Period 23, and CANSLIM Rocket and Magic Formula each moved up to 100% from the low-to-mid 90s. The only exits were Schloss Dividend's TME — which left after just a single period in the screen — and Lynch's ONON. The retention spread collapses to 6.7 points from Period 23's 15.4, as Piotroski's rebound lifted the floor sharply and no screen fell below 93%.
Cumulative Scoreboard: Lynch Retakes Fifth as CANSLIM Rocket Closes the Gap
CANSLIM Rocket's +4.07% lifted its cumulative return from +10.14% to +14.62%, widening its hold on second place and cutting Quality Growth's lead to 12.52 points from 19.73. Magic Formula's −2.88% dropped it from +4.04% to +1.05%, sliding it back below Lynch, which fell from +3.83% to +1.66% but moved back into fifth. Quality Growth held first, Schloss Dividend held third, Burry Value Screen held fourth, and Piotroski F-Score remained last.

| Benchmark · S&P 500 | $11,418.47 | +14.18% |
| Benchmark · NASDAQ | $11,926.07 | +19.26% |
Quality Growth's −2.10% trimmed its cumulative return to +27.14% from +29.87%, and with CANSLIM Rocket gaining ground at the same time, the margin between first and second shrank by more than seven points in a single period. Schloss Dividend's milder loss kept it 0.84 points ahead of Burry Value Screen in the race for third. Lynch and Magic Formula are now separated by just 0.61 points in fifth and sixth. Piotroski F-Score's −2.12% deepened its cumulative loss to −16.37% from −14.56%, extending its stay in last place.
Both benchmarks rose, and alpha widened against both for every screen except CANSLIM Rocket. The S&P 500's cumulative return climbed to +14.18% from +12.81%, and the NASDAQ's to +19.26% from +16.85%. CANSLIM Rocket's S&P 500 alpha flipped to +0.44% from −2.67%, making it the second screen alongside Quality Growth with positive cumulative alpha against the S&P 500, and its NASDAQ alpha tightened to −4.64% from −6.71%. Quality Growth's alpha narrowed to +12.96% against the S&P 500 and +7.88% against the NASDAQ, down from +17.06% and +13.02% — still the only screen with positive cumulative alpha against both benchmarks. Every other screen's alpha widened against both: Schloss Dividend to −6.14%/−11.22% from −3.98%/−8.02%, Burry Value Screen to −6.98%/−12.06% from −4.57%/−8.61%, Lynch to −12.52%/−17.60% from −8.98%/−13.02%, Magic Formula to −13.13%/−18.21% from −8.77%/−12.81%, and Piotroski F-Score to −30.55%/−35.63% from −27.37%/−31.41%.
Overlap: Eleven Stocks, No Changes
The September 26 snapshot shows the same eleven stocks in two or more screens as on September 19, with every pairing carried over unchanged. None of the period's new entrants — Burry Value Screen's ACAD and PAY, Schloss Dividend's TSN, and Piotroski F-Score's returning API — is held by any other screen, and neither of the period's two exits, TME and ONON, was an overlap name. PAAS, which created the Lynch–CANSLIM Rocket pairing last period, completes its first full period on the list.
Stocks in 2+ Screens · September 26, 2026
Overlap names leaned negative this period: nine of the eleven declined. INSW's −4.96% was the sharpest shared drag, weighing on both Burry Value Screen and Magic Formula, and DRD's −4.14% hit all three of Burry Value Screen, Magic Formula, and Quality Growth together. PAAS's −3.90% trimmed both Lynch and CANSLIM Rocket, and AUPH's −2.72% and INCY's −1.13% weighed on Burry Value Screen and Quality Growth alike. RELY's −2.60% and HRMY's −1.81% trimmed Burry Value Screen and Lynch, FSM's −2.18% touched all three of its holders, and OGC's −1.09% weighed mildly on Lynch and Magic Formula. On the upside, ADMA's +2.96% lifted all three of Burry Value Screen, Lynch, and Magic Formula at once, and SKHY's +2.17% gave a lift to both Lynch and Quality Growth.
What Period 24 Tells You
A rising market doesn't guarantee a rising screen. The S&P 500 and NASDAQ posted gains of +1.21% and +2.06%, yet six of the journal's seven screens lost money. Period 23 had one winner in a flat market; Period 24 had one winner in a strong one. What a screen holds matters far more than which way the index is moving.
Last period's leaders can become this period's laggards overnight. Magic Formula's tanker names — HAFN, TRMD, DHT, INSW — carried it to the journal's only gain in Period 23 and then produced four of its five worst results in Period 24. CANSLIM Rocket's chip names did the reverse. A single period's leadership says very little about the next one.
Low turnover and weak returns can coexist. Five screens held every name they started with, yet four of those five still posted losses of −0.97% or worse. Perfect retention measures how stable a screen's picks are, not whether those picks are working.
Cumulative gaps can close quickly when two screens move in opposite directions. Quality Growth's lead over CANSLIM Rocket shrank by more than seven points in one period — not because either screen had an extreme result, but because a +4% gain and a −2% loss landed at the same time.
